The seven steps
This is the spine of everything the product does. It isn't complicated. It's just rarely done in order.
- 1Recognize and admit the problem. Not vaguely — numerically. Most people underestimate what they owe by thousands because they've never added it up in one place.
- 2Take personal responsibility. Not blame. Ownership. The parts you control are the only parts that move.
- 3Educate yourself. Just enough, right when you need it. How interest actually accrues. What a minimum payment really costs. Why that 0% promo ends badly.
- 4Design a plan. Sequenced by severity and leverage, with an emergency buffer before aggressive payoff, because stability beats speed.
- 5Execute it. Specific actions, specific amounts, specific dates. Including scripts for the calls you're dreading.
- 6Stick with it. A monthly review that adjusts for real life — the raise, the repair, the hospital bill.
- 7Don't make the same mistakes twice. The annual report that shows what changed, what caused it, and what to guard against next.
